About Benji

By fate, the books I write and the message they contain are so deeply inspired by my love for my little boy Adam they are renowned for creating a profound and positive emotional experience for parents to share with their children at bedtime. (Reviews).

This is my story of how it all came to be…

It all began on the first day of my first real job when the first person I saw was Jackie. Little did I realise at that moment she would be to first person to steal my heart, completely.

I made this Video for Jackie I hope it gives you an insight to who I am.

After a few months of dating we decided to buy a little caravan by the sea in Brittas Bay, Co. Wicklow. Our hope was that we might have a family one day and spend weekends and holidays creating endless happy family memories. We weren’t even engaged!

Thankfully we did get engaged and very soon were blessed with 3 amazing boys, Harry, Adam and Robbie. Every chance we got we would pack the car drive the exciting 50 minutes to Brittas Bay singing songs and giggling at the countless “Are we there yet” excited yelps from squeaky voices in anticipation more magical moments by the sea. Evening swims, camp outs in the sand dunes, collecting seashells, building sand castles, and rolling around in clumps of freshly cut grass one balmy summer evenings smothering my boys with hugs and kisses were all regular occurrences.

On one such evening in August 2007 while having dinner outside with Jackie, I found myself smiling and felt my heart dance as I watched Harry, Adam and Robbie giggling as they jumped on top of haystacks they built from the clumps of freshly cut grass. With the warmth of the evening sun kissing my face I raised my glass “Jackie we are so lucky, we have everything we could ever want and I love you so much.” Her hand on my face and her lips on my cheek Adam came in complaining of a headache. He got sick and 3 days later on my birthday having spent 4 years delivering and nurturing his message of love Adam's job in this world was done. He grew his wings and like a butterfly gently fluttered away to heaven as dawn broke on a new day. Adam died suddenly and without warning from an undiagnosed vascular brain tumour.

Within moments of loosing Adam a powerful and overwhelming urge came over me to encourage parents to spend as much time as possible having fun and adventure with their children and tell them they love them every day. It was at Adam’s Funeral when I gave my Eulogy that his message was delivered to the world “If Adams death means that every child gets an extra 10 minutes of play time and are told they are loved every day, well then that’s OK.”

It is this message, my love for Adam and for all children that inspired me to write my first award winning children’s book “Before You Sleep.” Self published on Adam’s 1st year anniversary it aims to create a powerful, emotional and loving experience where the reader and the child, through enchanted illustrations, go on magical bonding adventures together. Filled with direct expressions of love from you, the reader to your child it helps solidify that unbreakable bond and nurture a loving lasting relationship.

10 months after we lost Adam he sent us a gift from heaven, a little girl we named Molly. Knowing Adam is guiding us every step of the way we are very happy and never miss an opportunity to go on an adventure, always remembering Adam when we smile and have fun. My hope is that Adam and I can sprinkle your family will a little bit of happiness filled with love hugs and kisses and encourage you to go out and create magical moments with your family as often as you can.

...and the journey continues!

Since then I have continued to write published 8 books in total and have won the Irish book Awards a second time

With sincere appreciation to everyone who has bought and read Adam's books and with the hope of generating more hugs and kisses for children, I continue to write and looks forward to the publication of "Adam's Natrue Adventure in September as well as my debut publication in the USA of Before you Sleep in October and still act the maggot more than ever, being sure to never miss the opportunity to make every precious moment count.

Sweet Dreams,

Benji
